Programs and Services

The Idaho Commission on Aging is the agency of state government responsible for carrying out the mandates of the Older Americans Act (OAA), as amended, and to distribute federal funds appropriated under the Act for a range of services addressing the needs of Idaho's 60+ population.  We also administer state monies appropriated under the Senior Services Act.  We fund and oversee such services as congregate and home delivered meals, transportation, homemaker and other supportive services.  ICOA also provides access to information on work opportunities for seniors, fulfilling both seniors' and business owners' needs.

ICOA has designated six regional offices called "Area Agencies on Aging" to provide these tax-supported services to seniors.  The AAAs provide some services directly and contract with local providers for other services.  This allows easy access to services based on geographical areas and close proximity to those being served. Further information on each program or service, and contact information, both state-wide and regional, can be found on each program page (listed to the left) within this website.  Your regional Area Agency on Aging is the first and best place to start to obtain services and information.

The National Council on the Aging has created two websites, BenefitsCheckUp and BenefitsCheckUpRx,  to help older adults to quickly identify services and prescription drug programs that may improve the quality of their lives.  A simple questionnaire explains what benefit programs you may be eligible for and how to apply for them.  The questionnaire does not ask your name, address or any information that could be used to identify you, and is completely confidential.
