Preventive Health and Health Promotion

Preventive Health Health Promotion provides information, services and activities for individuals over 60, their spouses and families that include:

  • Health screenings and assessments
  • Organized physical fitness activities

  • Health promotion programs

  • Medication management

  • Home injury control services

Managing Chronic Disease

Living Well in Idaho

The program is a 6-week series of two hour sessions that address topics important for effective self-management of chronic conditions such as:

  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes

  • Arthritis

  • High blood pressure, heart disease

  • Depression

Better Choices, Better Health®

This free on-line six-week workshops help people with health issues including:

  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis

  • High blood pressure, heart disease

  • Chronic pain

  • Anxiety

Other Classes

Fit and Fall Proof™

Fit and Fall Proof is an exercise-based fall prevention program.  Attendance at classes two to three times per week enables older adults to:

  • Maintain an independent, freely functioning life-style

  • Achieve gains in flexibility, enabling older adults to reach and to bend

  • Improve muscular strength

  • Increase balance and posture

  • Improve mobility, endurance, and walking gait

Over Sixty and Getting Fit

This low cost one-credit class, sponsored by the College of Southern Idaho provides the following benefits:

  • Improves all aspects of cardiovascular functioning

  • Impacts maintenance of independence in old age

  • Helps preserve and restore flexibility

  • Improves strength, balance and posture
