Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC)

The ADRC facilitates partnerships with agencies to provide a centralized location for consumers to access services. ICOA collaborates with other agencies as well as contracts with the 6 Area Agencies on Aging located statewide to provide services locally to seniors and adults with disabilities.

Key Components Include:

Consumer Populations, Partnerships and Stakeholder Involvement

  • Formal partnerships are created and in place to collaborate on similar projects and create a system that provides streamlined access to consumers

  • Examples of Partnering agencies in place are: Health Welfare, Veteran’s Administration, Idaho Council for Developmental Disabilities, State of Idaho Living Council, Centers for Independent Living, Boise State University, Idaho State University, AARP and Idaho Legal Aide.

Information, Referral and Awareness

  • In collaboration with 211 Careline ICOA has established a centralized phone number available on the website for consumers to access essential services through one phone number

  • Local ADRC’s provide a comprehensive resource database to provide consumers with up to date accurate information

  • ADRC staff receive and provide cross training with nonprofit and government agencies to enhance the information the share with clients

Options Counseling and Assistance

  • Local ADRCs have an Options Counselor on staff that provides enhanced Case Management

  • Options Counseling is a consumer directed approach in assisting consumers

Person Centered Transition Planning

  • Some local ADRCs have persons on staff that will assist clients in the transition from institutions to the community.

  • In partnership with services such as Idaho Home Choice Program. Medicaid clients have assistance in transitioning from an institiution to the community.
