Addressing the present and future needs of older Idahoans

About the Administrator

Sam Haws, Administrator

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter appointed Sam Haws, former commissioner at the Idaho State Tax Commission, to serve as Administrator of the Idaho Commission on Aging effective July 11, 2011.

“Sam Haws has been a valuable member of my Cabinet and I am glad she will continue using her talents to serve Idahoans in this expanded role,” Governor Otter said.

“Sam’s diverse experience in both the public and private sectors makes her uniquely qualified to lead the Idaho Commission on Aging as it continues its work in meeting the current needs of Idaho’s aging population and as it anticipates future needs of these valued citizens as well.”

“I am very grateful to Governor Otter for this appointment and for his faith in me,” Haws said. “I look forward to the opportunities ahead and to fulfilling the important mission of the Idaho Commission on Aging. It is critical to help aging individuals have access to home and community-based services to allow them the greatest opportunity for independent living.”

Sam Haws grew up in Idaho and most of her family lives in the Treasure Valley, including her children and grandchildren. She has served as a tax commissioner for the past decade. She previously served on the Idaho State Board of Education and has been active in the private sector as well, working for 20 years in the banking industry. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of St. Alphonsus Medical Group and on the Advisory Board for the College of Western Idaho.
