BIO:  

Alice Bevans is a Professor Emeritus of Nursing at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. She taught at the college for 25 years. Prior to her teaching career she focused on hospital clinical nursing. She received her basic nursing education at Bryan Memorial School of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska, her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of the State of New York, her Masters in Nursing from the University of Portland and her Doctorate from the University of Idaho with a focus in Higher Education Administration.
Dr. Bevans is affiliated with several professional organizations at the state, regional and national level. She gives professional presentations to various nursing groups and is active as a Legal Nurse Consultant and consultant to other health care agencies. She teaches occasional classes Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. Idaho and serves on local health care committees.
Dr. Bevans received a number of awards throughout her career. The most recent award was initiated and authored by the Lewis-Clark State College Nursing faculty in 2008. It is the Dr. Alice Bevans Award for Professionalism. This award is presented to an outstanding graduating nursing student for exceptional professionalism throughout their student period at the college. Other awards include: March of Dimes Legend of Nursing in Idaho (2006), Professional Development Award, Bryan School of Nursing Alumni Association (2000), Leadership Award, Selected by Naval NROTC students, University of Idaho (LCSC Nursing Unit), Talkington Award (teaching excellence) at LCSC (1996) and Outstanding Faculty Award, School of Professional Studies at LCSC (1991).
Dr. Bevans and her late husband, Ron, came to Idaho in 1967 where her husband taught Architecture at Idaho State University. In 1970 they moved to Genesee, Idaho.    Ron started as an architectural faculty member at the University of Idaho and later was Chair of Architecture and then Associate Dean of the College of Art and Architecture. Dr. Bevans has two sons, Wes and Steve and five grandchildren who live in the Boise area.
